So is GoLE, Fire Attunement and Glowing Gaze for an SF bar.

That's all you need for energy management anyway on one.

But the energy management is crippled easily with more than 1 skill like Ward Against Melee or even something like Aegis.

Plus if you take AI and RI, you're wasting 2 MORE slots on energy management. So you have even less room.

I heard Dual Attunements was better.

You're not a mesmer. You're an Elementalist. You can use Energy Storage. You can use Elemental Attunement. So use it, and bask in the spell spam. Toss in Arcane Echo, even.

I agree, dual attunement SF is a really great build.

Just joined so I couldn't have a say at the start of the thread

Mindblast is one of the best, the great energy gain, and spammability make it an awesome skill. However I don't take it all the time, as it has its uses, but when it comes to places where I'm h/h I take an sh build.

Using a wand and offhand, and mindbender, I can pump out three major nukes, and then use some fast recharging damaging skills.
Obviously the energy isnt as great, but with nuking its about pushing out the nukes in the right position, so you don't have to worry about casting them again. (admittedly you probably cast them twice a group if need be, in places like fow etc.)

So yeah to conclude: love Mindblast, and I love SH for raw damage, its just a "when you feel like it" thing

Also, I forgot to mention; SH is better for the general tanking teams, whereas mindblast is good, but not as effective imo

Sorry if this is summing up whats already been said, ><

Yeah, I know, I've tried it ,or something along those lines.

But when with a pug, which happens, i always feel safer bringing something more damaging.

in a pug you just point and laugh at a obby tank wondering how the hell does a ele with no defense outlive a warrior with uber defense and life bond on him.

[skill]Glyph of Lesser Energy[/skill][skill]Mind Blast[/skill][skill]Rodgort's Invocation[/skill][skill]Glowing Gaze[/skill][skill]Rebirth[/skill]

I prefer to bring GoLE instead of fire attunement, simply because it's not something that can be stripped. It's also something that you don't need to recharge every 15 seconds because of the energy management provided with mind blast and glowing gaze. I'm not even sure if glowing gaze itself is necessary, but it's in there. I have rebirth, because like the OP said, it's good if you need to hightail out of there, but in simpler scenarios, replace it with something else.

I like MB because it leaves room to bring big blow up skills at a low cost, yet still leave room on a bar for other utility/damage. Whee

edit: Why do I feel like I've already posted in this thread...

Just wondering, Illfated, what's the point in GGaze when you can follow up with Mind Blast?

Oh, I fully agree, but sometimes I dont like to ask for help. Im in a small guild of friends, and I dont like to ask for help/parties for different things, unless more than one of us needs it.

That's what I use. It's a little tricky in HM where many of the enemies have high energy levels, but with a little planning and thinking, usually energy is not a problem.

I usually bring "You move like a dwarf" with this build as an incredibly useful interrupt - caveat - not on large creatures.

Energy management is 90% timing, and only 10% the skills you use. If you are good at using it, almost any skill that gives energy or reduces cost can be used as management. That said, you can't take enchantments as energy management into a high strip area- that's suicide. You have to be aware of what enemies you will encounter, and be able to arrange your skills accordingly.

More like 60/40. The skills you bring for energy management will be mostly used on recharge so they will play a much bigger role in determining when or if you're running out of energy, with the only real exception being Glowing Gaze, which won't be on a MB bar anyway...

My favorite fire combo has both MB and glowing gaze :P

But really, if you can't time the skills right, they are no use at all. I suppose its more timing than the skills- more how you use them than what they are- but the exact percentage doesn't matter.
